Justice doesn't happen without people willing to show up for it. Whether you have an afternoon or a career's worth of expertise, there is a place for you at Post Conviction Project.
"Act as if what you do makes a difference. It does." — William James
We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds who are passionate about supporting second chances and the proper administration of justice. Whether you have professional expertise or simply a willingness to help, there is a place for you here.
Post-conviction and appellate work is specialized — and there is never enough of it to go around. If you have criminal defense, appellate, or post-conviction experience, your skills can directly change the outcome of a case.
As a Florida Supreme Court-approved criminal defense legal aid organization, PCP is authorized to supervise law students under the Clinical Legal Education (CLI) program — meaning students can actually practice law under attorney supervision, not just observe. This is a meaningful distinction from a standard internship.
We are actively working to establish formal law school partnerships. In the meantime, we will work directly with you and your school to structure an experience that maximizes your learning and will advocate on your behalf for course credit where possible.
Florida attorneys: PCP is an approved legal aid organization for purposes of Florida's pro bono reporting requirement. Volunteer hours with PCP count toward your annual 20-hour commitment — and if you prefer, a monetary contribution to PCP in lieu of hours is also an approved method of fulfillment under Rule 4-6.1.
